5. Analyse Mainstream OBD Device Protocols Using the Relay Function of the CAN Analyzer.

2020-07-28

Bus Type: High Speed CAN 500K

Tools for Use: CANalyst-II Supreme Edition (with OBD), CAN1 channel (high-speed CAN) + OBD adapter to connect to mainstream OBD devices (such as diagnostic, brush-writing, configuration tools of various automobile manufacturers, mainstream OBD Bluetooth devices), CAN2 channel (high-speed CAN) + OBD adapter to connect to the car's OBD interface. Turn on the bi-directional relay function, you can clearly see the data flow through the software.

It's worth noting that if the car diagnostic device is connected via USB cable, such as the VW 5053 Configuration Tool shown in the picture, only the CAN cable needs to be connected. However, if it is a Bluetooth device directly plugged into the OBD, such as the U-Drive car OBD box shown in the picture, in addition to connecting the CAN cable, the OBD's power cable and ground cable must also be connected to the OBD power supply.

This section focuses on studying, analyzing, and deciphering the CAN communication process and protocol of the 6 and 14 pins of the automotive standard OBD interface. It is important to note that the general OBD device integrates CAN, K-line, LIN, and other buses and protocols. This section does not include any research or leads.
